The SIA Drugs Awareness course is designed to equip security personnel with essential knowledge to identify and respond to drug misuse in licensed premises and public spaces. The course covers types of commonly misused substances, signs and symptoms of drug use, legal implications, and effective strategies for prevention and intervention. It aims to support a safer working environment and enhance the safety of the public by improving situational awareness and reporting procedures.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Identify signs of addiction in a person
- Recall the different categories of drugs and their health risk
- Explain the importance of awareness in the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse
- Describe the impact drug and alcohol addiction can have on a person’s workplace performance
- Discuss the appropriate recovery and rehabilitation options available for people struggling with addictions
